A Traveltime-based Absorbing Boundary Condition and Fourth-order Implicit Procedures for the Simulation of Acoustics
نویسنده
چکیده
For the simulation of waves in a bounded domain, the absorbing boundary condition (ABC) must be set appropriately to suppress the wave reflection on the boundary. This article introduces a new traveltime-based ABC which can significantly reduce the boundary reflection. Also the article considers a new fourth-order implicit time-stepping scheme, which incorporates a locally one-dimensional procedure for an efficient simulation. Its stability and accuracy are analyzed and compared with those of the standard explicit fourth-order scheme. It has been observed from various experiments that the new ABC can reduce the boundary reflection by one order, compared with the conventional first-order ABC, and the implicit procedure produces less dispersive solutions than the explicit scheme in heterogeneous media. Key-Words: Acoustic wave, absorbing boundary condition (ABC), high-order method, locally one-dimensional (LOD) method, numerical dispersion.

Simulation of Pitching and Heaving Airfoil with Oscillation of Flow Boundary Condition
A pressure based implicit procedure to solve the Euler and Navier-Stokes equation is developed to predict transonic viscous and inviscid flows around the pitching and heaving airfoils with a high reslution scheme. In this process, nonorthogonal and non moving mesh with collocated finite volume formulation are used. In order to simulate pitching or heaving airfoil, oscillation of flow boundary c...
متن کاملCompact Schemes for Acoustics in the Frequency Domain
This article is concerned with the fourth-order compact scheme for an accurate simulation of acoustic waves in the frequency domain. The compact schemes are known for a long time; however, they have shown diÆculties, in particular, in dealing with general boundary conditions. This article introduces a new formulation for the compact scheme for the Helmholtz equation and an e ective strategy of ...
متن کاملHigh-accuracy alternating segment explicit-implicit method for the fourth-order heat equation
Based on a group of new Saul’yev type asymmetric difference schemes constructed by author, a high-order, unconditionally stable and parallel alternating segment explicit-implicit method for the numerical solution of the fourth-order heat equation is derived in this paper. The truncation error is fourth-order in space, which is much more accurate than the known alternating segment explicit-impli...
متن کاملn-Times Absorbing Boundary Conditions for Compact Finite-Difference Modeling of Acoustic and Elastic Wave Propagation in the 2D TI Medium
This article presents decoupling n-times absorbing boundary conditions designed to model acoustic and elastic wave propagation in a 2D transversely isotropic (TI) medium. More general n-times boundary conditions with absorbing parameters are also obtained by cascading first-order differential operators with parameters. These boundary conditions are approximated with simple finite-difference sch...
متن کاملA Collocation Method with Modified Equilibrium on Line Method for Imposition of Neumann and Robin Boundary Conditions in Acoustics (TECHNICAL NOTE)
A collocation method with the modified equilibrium on line method (ELM) forimposition of Neumann and Robin boundary conditions is presented for solving the two-dimensionalacoustical problems. In the modified ELM, the governing equations are integrated over the lines onthe Neumann (Robin) boundary instead of the Neumann (Robin) boundary condition equations. Inother words, integration domains are...
